Abstract :
The aim of the present study was to investigate the mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation strategies in the relationship between insecure adult attachment styles and obsessive-compulsive symptoms. This was a descriptive-correlational study. The statistical population included all married students of Semnan University in the academic year 2024, from which 397 people were selected using the convenience sampling method. The revised obsessive-compulsive disorder questionnaire, the revised experiences in close relationships questionnaire, and the cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire were used to collect data. In order to analyze the research model, the structural equation modeling method was used using AMOS24 software. The results showed that insecure adult attachment styles have a direct, positive, and significant relationship with obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and cognitive emotion regulation strategies have a mediating role in the relationship between insecure adult attachment styles and obsessive-compulsive symptoms. Overall, the findings showed that the model had a good fit. Considering the mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation strategies in the relationship between insecure adult attachment styles and obsessive-compulsive symptoms in married students, focusing on teaching adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies and using attachment-based therapeutic approaches can reduce the effect of insecure adult attachment styles on obsessive-compulsive symptoms.
