Abstract :
The purpose of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of short-term intensive dynamic psychotherapy (ISTDP) on reducing the symptoms and defense mechanisms of borderline personality. This research was among quasi-experimental studies with a single-subject design (A-B-A). The statistical population of this study consisted of all people with borderline personality disorder who referred to the psychiatric center of Jamia Nagar (Seraj) Miandoab during the first quarter of 2013. From among the above statistical population, 3 people who received borderline personality diagnosis based on Milon's clinical multi-item inventory III- (III-MCMI) and psychiatric interview based on DSM-5 criteria were selected by purposive sampling method. The tools used in this research were: Milon's Clinical Multiaxial Inventory (III-MCMI), Defense Mechanisms Questionnaire-40 and Structured Clinical Interview for Disorders (SCID) DSM, as well as intensive and short-term psychotherapeutic protocol according to Dovanlo's approach (1995, 2000) was carried out on the research sample. First, the subjects were evaluated in the form of a baseline, once every 3 sessions, and after the completion of the treatment sessions, 3 follow-up evaluations were done with one-month intervals using version 24 The results showed that intensive and short-term psychodynamic therapy reduces the symptoms of borderline personality disorders (p < 0.05), and this treatment reduces mature, immature and neurotic defense mechanisms in people. It was significant with borderline personality disorders (p>0.05).
