Abstract :
Aims: The aim of the present study was to investigate the mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation strategies in the relationship between insecure adult attachment styles and obsessive-compulsive syndrome. Method: This descriptive-correlational study was of the structural equation modeling type. The statistical population included all married students of Semnan University in the academic year 2024, from which 397 people were selected using the convenience sampling method. The short form of the obsessive-compulsive questionnaire, the experience in close relationships questionnaire, and the cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire were used to collect data. In order to analyze the research model, the structural equation modeling method was used using AMOS-24 software. Results: The results showed that insecure adult attachment styles have a direct, positive, and significant relationship with obsessive-compulsive syndrome, and cognitive emotion regulation strategies have a mediating role in the relationship between insecure adult attachment styles and obsessive-compulsive syndrome. Overall, the findings showed that the model had a good fit. Discussion and Conclusion: Considering the mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation strategies in the relationship between insecure adult attachment styles and obsessive-compulsive syndrome in married students, focusing on teaching adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies and using attachment-based therapeutic approaches can reduce the effect of insecure adult attachment styles on obsessive-compulsive syndrome.
