Predicting life satisfaction based on the spouse's external emotion regulation with the mediating role of humor styles in married individuals

Abstract :

This study aimed to develop a life satisfaction model based on the external regulation of spouse's emotion with the mediating role of humor styles in married individuals. The research method is descriptive-correlational. The statistical population included married teachers living in Zanjan province, from which 293 people were selected by cluster random method. The research tools included the Life Satisfaction Scale (RLS), the Spouse's External Emotion Regulation Scale (CEER), and the Humor Styles Questionnaire (HSQ). The data were analyzed using the structural equation model. The findings showed that the direct effect of positive and negative external emotion regulation on life satisfaction and humor styles is significant. Also, the direct effect of humor styles on life satisfaction is also significant. The results of examining the indirect effects of the variables also indicated that external emotion regulation has an indirect effect on life satisfaction of married individuals through humor styles. Paying attention to the role of external emotion regulation and humor styles in married people's life satisfaction can provide a basis for greater awareness of the factors affecting life satisfaction among couples.
