Abstract :
Family is the fundamental foundation of society, playing a key role in growth, mental health, and identity formation by providing a safe and supportive environment. The present study aimed to examine the role of the schemas of shame, self-sacrifice, emotional inhibition, and entitlement in predicting covert relational aggression among married individuals. This descriptive-correlational research was conducted on the population of married students at Bu-Ali Sina University in 2022. Based on Cochran’s formula, a sample of 384 married students was selected through convenience sampling and completed the Covert Relational Aggression Scale (CRAViS) and Young Schema Questionnaire (YSQ). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation via SPSS software. Correlation results indicated a significant positive relationship between covert relational aggression and the schemas of shame, self-sacrifice, emotional inhibition, and entitlement. Furthermore, regression analysis showed that the proposed model predicted 35% of the variance in covert relational aggression. Therefore, it can be concluded that the schemas of shame, self-sacrifice, emotional inhibition, and entitlement effectively predict covert relational aggression among married individuals. These findings highlight the importance of cognitive and emotional structures in understanding indirect aggressive behaviors. Psychological interventions focusing on modifying these schemas may help reduce covert aggression and improve marital relationship quality.
