Abstract :
Objective: Social health can be caused by many factors such as psychological health. Obsessive traits are one of the psychological health problems that can cause damage to social health. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of predicting social health based on obsessive symptoms with the mediating role of self-compassion. Method: The descriptive research was correlational and based on structural equation modeling. The statistical population is 20,997 students of Tabriz University. According to Krejcie-Morgan table, 380 people were selected as a sample using available sampling method due to the simplicity of internet access and field reference. Data collection tools included Hodgson and Rachman's Obsession Questionnaire (1977), Keyes and Shapiro's Social Health Questionnaire (2004), and Neff's Self-Compassion Scale (2003). The data was analyzed by SPSS24 AMOSE24 software. Findings: The findings showed significant relationships between obsessive-compulsive symptoms, self-compassion and social health (P<0.01). In general, 81% of social health can be explained by obsessive symptoms. Also, the variables of obsessive symptoms and self-compassion have a significant direct effect on social health (P<0.001) and the indirect path of obsessive symptoms with the mediation of self-compassion on social health was confirmed with a significant level (P<0.001). And the research model was confirmed. Conclusion: One of the characteristics of obsessive people is low self-compassion, which is one of the factors that harm social health.
